Hoosier Solar today announced a donation of $100,000 to the La Porte County Fairground Management and Event Corporation (FMEC). FMEC is developing a strategic plan that prioritizes infrastructure upgrades and building renovations, and the funds Hoosier Solar is donating will be used for capital projects identified in this plan for the La Porte County Fairgrounds.
“Hoosier Solar is excited to contribute to the revitalization of the La Porte County Fairgrounds,” Steven Lichtin, Hoosier Solar CEO said. “The Fairgrounds play a critical role in hosting the annual La Porte County Fair and providing a space to hold year-round community events and activities, while simultaneously providing permanent support to the agricultural community.”
Funds from the Hoosier Solar donation will also be put towards improvements to benefit the 4-H program and support expanded year-round programming, including trade shows, indoor markets and other community events.
“The La Porte County 4-H Program is grateful for Hoosier Solar’s support and contribution to the Fairgrounds,” said Kelsey Guadarrama, La Porte County Extension Director and 4-H Youth Educator in La Porte County. “The partnership will help FMEC make capital upgrades to the Fairgrounds that will in return strengthen the LaPorte County 4-H Program's ability to provide modern, welcoming spaces where 4‑H youth can explore their interests, learn life skills and build lifelong friendships.”
This investment continues Hoosier Solar’s work to invest in the agricultural community following similar investments to rebuild the Hoosier Solar Swine Barn at the Starke County fairgrounds.
“The board appreciate Hoosier Solar’s generous donation toward our capital improvements,” FMEC President Jimmy Pressel said. “Our board is working diligently on a vision and master plan to serve the community for years to come and make the Fairgrounds a regional destination. Donations like this one will help us make it a reality.”
